About the project
Due to ageing infrastructure, Pensar was engaged for the rehabilitation of three potable water reservoirs located across individual sites at Mount Nelson, Bell Bay and Zeehan in Tasmania.

Project Scope
- The refurbishment and rehabilitation of three potable water reservoirs
- External blasting and painting works
- Application of full polyurea linings
Challenges
- A considered approach to works was required due to the west coast rain experienced during the external blasting and painting phases
- The application of epoxy during the periods of cooler weather
- Ensuring noise pollution was kept to a minimum due to the close proximity to local communities
Achievements
- Pensar successfully completed the application of over 2500sqm of polyurea membrane across two concrete reservoirs
- The project team recommended polyurea as an alternative coating system and Taswater accepted the recommendation
- Complete conformance with Taswater CDO’s systems and requirements
- Strong community and business engagement delivering social and financial benefits to the local community
