Location

Brisbane, Queensland

Client & Duration

Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd
May 2022 - Sep 2023

Project Scope

  • Relocation of fire hydrant booster assembly, installation of underground fire and potable water piping and underground electrical infrastructure
  • Fire-fighting system reliability improvements including various new systems and associated structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls works
  • Hardstand area preparation, erosion protection and construction of serviced operations building shell
  • Construction of a new ramp connecting the hardstand to the jetty
  • CCTV, PLC/SCADA and flood lighting installation.

Challenges

  • Working on an active fuel unloading platform meant the project team had to be adaptable due to evolving and changing conditions. For example, when an industrial tanker ship was being unloaded, strict security clearances often meant stand-down periods for workers
  • Scope changes to achieve Client’s project vision as works progressed
  • Demolition of the existing offshore building involved asbestos contaminated materials that required meticulous and staged loading of waste onto a skip barge

Achievements

  • Through constant and direct communication with the PBPL project management team and a successful delivery, our existing relationship with a valued client was strengthened
  • Successful delivery of a critical infrastructure project as per the specified timelines
  • Our team managed the site security and safety of passengers by clear site security and delineation for continued use of the active cruise terminal
  • Appropriate construction site waste was re-purposed for road base and all unbound pavement works.
