About the project
To address key defects, issues and minimise environmental and safety risks Pensar was engaged for the upgrade of existing Urban Utilities Sewer Pump Stations. The upgrades improve the reliability of the pump stations and extends the service life of the assets.

Project Scope
- 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC design
- Shutdown, refurbishment and commissioning of an existing SPS and emergency storage tank
- Supply, install and commissioning of pumps, discharge pipework and level sensors including associated infrastructure and electrical upgrades
- Site access and drainage improvements including concrete and asphalt works
- Removal and replacement of existing retaining wall, dry well exhaust fan and access ladders
- Fabrication and installation of new scrubber tank access stairs, kickboards, overflow bar screen and flap valve
Challenges
- Due to the age of the existing pump stations there was limited as-constructed information available. Additional service location and identification works were required
Achievements
- No damage to any critical infrastructure during the works, despite the lack of as-construction information
- The project was completed on time with no LTIs
- Throughout the project Pensar worked closely with Urban Utilities to ensure the project was delivered to their specifications
- Pensar worked closely with Urban Utilities operators and the public to ensure the project was completed safely and to a high standard, whilst ensuring no complaints from the public or neighbouring residents
