Hunter Water Corporation
September 2022 - August 2024
Project Scope
- Assessment of diffusers in the marketplace and justification including consideration to future O&M of the system
- Installation of a new diffuser lifting frame and diffusers, and commissioning while EAT 1 was in operation
- Decanting of EAT 1 & 2, hydromine sludge and clear out EATs
- Replacement of all six decant weirs, risers and trumpets
- Concrete repairs to both EATs
- Commissioning of the two new diffuser systems.
Challenges
- Optioneering a suitable lifting frame to minimise future issues with lifting frames and providing suitable durability was a challenge that our project team navigated through in close collaboration with Hunter Water
- Undertaking removal and installation works in a brownfield environment whilst maintaining plant operations.
Achievements
- Our team successfully removed and installed the diffuser systems within the EATs whilst keeping services operational
- Desludging the EAT via hydromining provided a large cost benefit for Hunter Water Corporation
- Ongoing collaboration and positive communication with Hunter Water Corporation led to successful outcomes for the design, construction and commissioning phases.
