About the project

Refurbishment of both Maritime Safety Queensland’s operational wharves in Pinkenba, Queensland.

Project scope

The project scope of works included the following:

  • Design and construction of a custom tidal mooring pen system, including the installation of new steel piles and a dynamic mooring system to suit the new workboat;
  • Extraction and installation of timber fender piles;
  • Removal and installation of large section timber walers;
  • Installation of proprietary pile wrapping and jacket system to 64 steel piles;
  • Installation and refurbishment of handrails and access ladders;
  • Refurbishment of mooring bollards;
  • Removal of old and installation of new plastic kerb;
  • Structural wharf deck concrete repairs and crack injection;
  • Design and construction of Electrical, Fire and Hydraulic services to bring the wharves into line with current industry standards.

Innovations & highlights

  • Works carried out within a live marine environment and at an operational marine base
