Lennox Head Hypochlorite Renewal
About the project
Lennox Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was experiencing ongoing operational issues associated with its chlorine dosing system from an earlier upgrade in 2013. Pensar was engaged to design and construct the civil, process and electrical engineering components of a new chemical dosing system.
Location
Lennox Head, Queensland
Client & Duration
Ballina Shire Council
April 2024 - December 2024
Project Scope
- A new sodium hypochlorite double-wall bunded tank
- Two independent dosing systems
- Bunded chemical unloading area and bunded driveway
Challenges
- Due to the importance of the job being completed as soon as possible, challenges were faced during the design period and adjustments were made on site
- The project was delivered within a restricted work area, requiring meticulous planning to optimise space usage
- Staging and logistics were carefully coordinated to ensure smooth workflow and maintain safety standards
- With minimal space available for material storage, deliveries were scheduled strategically to arrive as needed. This approach minimised congestion on-site while keeping
the project on track - The site’s location near existing structures, roads, and utilities required a highly coordinated approach to work sequencing. Precision planning and execution were essential to mitigate
risks, avoid service disruptions, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Achievements
- Throughout this project, Pensar built and maintained a strong relationship with the Council and Lennox Head WWTP operators
- Effective organisation was a leading factor to the success of this project, which allowed Pensar to complete the works two months ahead of schedule.
