IoT Monitoring Station
About the project
Urban Utilities sought to enhance the water network monitoring through a cost-effective IoT (Internet of Things) based solution. The IoT system will assist in improving asset performance, understanding and monitoring, optimise asset utilisation and enhance the prediction of maintenance. This was a pilot project with the overall goal to implement this system across multiple Urban Utilities' catchment plans and zones to support efficient data acquisition.
Location
South Ripley, Queensland
Client & Duration
Urban Utilities
Aug 2024 - May 2025
Project Scope
- Developed issued for construction design, supply and installation
- Commission an IoT monitoring system in a location directed by Urban Utilities
- The IoT system includes water quality, flow and pressure monitoring that is powered by solar.
Challenges
- The choice of location influenced the project's design, procurement process, and overall timeline
- While the goal was to execute the project in a time and cost-efficient manner, the location change introduced delays, extending the completion timeline beyond initial expectations
- Additionally, a design modification requested by Urban Utilities resulted in adjustments to existing equipment/design, including the inclusion of additional equipment.
Achievements
- Pensar was able to successfully conduct and complete a pilot project aimed at advancing water network monitoring capabilities
- The success of the pilot demonstrates the potential for broader implementation across multiple zones, positioning Pensar for significant future opportunities
- Pensar was able to flexibly adapt to the changes, such as location and design, and deliver the project in a timely manner that still had the end goal of limiting expenses.
