Construction Water Supply System for Eva Copper Mine

About the project

The objective of the Eva Copper Mine project is to supply water to construct new built open pit copper-gold mining infrastructure facilities for operation. There is an existing system which our team have aimed to incorporate and reuse as much of the existing items as possible. Groundwater will be extracted from four production boreholes.

Groundwater extracted from boreholes will be pumped to Storage tanks and to central storage pond, and from the pond the raw water will be pumped from the Storage tanks, the raw water will be pumped for 7.3km to the construction village and from the pond the water will be pumped 5km to the work fronts via separate pipelines.

Project Scope

The scope of works was delivered in two separable portions as follows:
• Separable Portion A: Covering defining design basis and completing design of all the works specified in this document
• Separable Portion B: Covering fabrication installation and commissioning of the system.

Challenges

  • Integrated existing infrastructure by auditing assets and adjusting designs for compatibility
  • Optimised a complex water distribution network using hydraulic modeling for consistent flow and pressure
  • Managed remote logistics through phased procurement and local supplier engagement
  • Ensured reliable power and control systems with redundant designs and robust SCADA architecture
  • Maintained environmental compliance through impact assessments and water conservation measures.

Achievements

  • Commissioned a fully operational network capable of delivering raw water over 12 km combined distance, supporting continuous construction activities
  • Implemented SCADA and telemetry systems for real-time performance tracking, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual intervention
  • Achieved significant savings through reuse of existing assets and streamlined procurement, delivering the project within budget and contractual timelines
  • Reduced environmental footprint by minimising new material requirements and optimising groundwater usage in compliance with regulatory standards
  • A positive relationship was formed between Pensar site crew, management and client.
