Pensar commenced the Helensvale Station Bus Facility Upgrade in July 2017. The project was part of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program, aiming to connect communities, enhance road safety, boost the economy and generate employment.
The upgrade aimed to accommodate future population growth and to allow commuters to transfer easily between bus, tram and train services – the first tri-modal transport facility in Queensland.
It was critical for Stage 1 of the upgrade to be completed in time for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The project team ensured this was achieved through a well-planned program, working efficiently with all stakeholders, implementing early site start times and using 3D scanning to identify issues not visible to the eye for expedited resolution. The station remained operational throughout the project; restricting the site’s perimeter however the construction method and programming ensured that these challenges did not impact the project and that the intended completion date was achieved.
The project team established good relationships with the client, station staff and commuters, making it possible to work alongside the local community to deliver the project on time and without disruption to transportation services.
