BAC Banksia Place—Stage 1A
Pensar was engaged to construct a 500 metre off-ramp to connect the heavily trafficked Moreton Drive to an internal road network and the Banksia Place Stage 1A service centre precinct. This challenging, multidisciplinary project was undertaken in a highly visible location adjacent to both the Domestic and International Terminals.
Significant new technologies were utilised to overcome poor ground conditions. Construction of the lightweight fill section of road employed polystyrene with geomembrane wrap—only the second time this technology had been used in Queensland. Construction activities were conducted in close proximity to two other building sites. Site access and design interface coordination issues were managed smoothly by all parties.
Project delivery was coordinated closely with client representatives and other stakeholders to facilitate the staged opening of a large service centre and fast food outlet. Pensar’s trademark commitment to site safety and presentation proved invaluable in such a busy, high profile location. Despite a tight program and significant changes in scope during construction, the project was delivered on time and budget to strict client specifications.
“Pensar has worked with Brisbane Airport Corporation on numerous civil, building and utilities projects over the years. From a management perspective, I find them very approachable and easy to deal with. They’re a known entity to us. Their service and work are well and truly proven. We have confidence that Pensar will listen to any concerns and address any issues that may arise. There’s a great deal of mutual respect. That builds a successful relationship and project.”Robert Scodellaro
